ByteImpact Labs LLC ("we," "our," or "us") operates the MarkTheDay mobile application and the marktheday.app website. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide directly:
- Email address — when you sign up for our waitlist or early access notifications
- Countdown events — event names, dates, descriptions, and categories you create within the app
Information collected automatically:
- Device information — device model, operating system version, and app version for crash reporting and compatibility
- Usage analytics — anonymous, aggregated data about feature usage to improve the app experience
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide and maintain the MarkTheDay app experience
- To send you launch notifications and product updates (email only, with your consent)
- To sync your countdown data across your devices via iCloud
- To improve app performance and fix bugs
3. Data Storage & Sync
Your countdown events are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. If you enable iCloud sync, your data is stored in your personal iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit infrastructure. We do not have access to your iCloud data.
4. Third-Party Services
- Apple iCloud / CloudKit — for optional cross-device sync (governed by Apple's Privacy Policy)
- Nager.Date API — to fetch public holiday data for your selected country (only your country code is sent; no personal data)
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. We may share data only:
- With your explicit consent
- To comply with legal obligations
- To protect the rights and safety of our users
6. Data Retention
Your app data remains on your device and in your iCloud account until you delete it. Waitlist email addresses are retained until we send the launch notification, after which they are deleted unless you opt in to ongoing communications.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request deletion of your data
- Unsubscribe from email communications at any time
- Export your countdown data from the app
8. Children's Privacy
MarkTheDay is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such data, please contact us immediately.
9. Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information. All data transmission uses encryption, and local data is protected by your device's built-in security features.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy on this page and updating the effective date.
